Cricket was a rich man’s game. But now it is the game that can make you rich in India. Play it, talk about it, or do almost anything related to it and riches are promised.
This was not the case some years back when state level players had to struggle with their finances to keep playing. IPL changed it all. By roping in local, second rung players, you could be not in the final 11 and still become a celebrity. That is an excellent sign and it makes every true fan of the game happy to see so many players succeed.
This one successful league spawned many more from Badminton to Kabaddi – Kabaddi was super engaging, can’t wait for the second season.
Wouldn’t you like to know more about these old and new celebrities? Know them beyond the field? Ask questions you always wanted to ask?
I think you may be getting an opportunity to do just that! I am guessing here. Kapil Dev’s #EkNayiLeague is shrouded in secrecy. The teaser web site doesn’t tell you much, nor does Kaipl’s personal handle or the #EkNayiLeague’s twitter account. I would say this is one of the best kept secrets in cricket – no sting operation here!

Quiz Show?
Quiz shows like the one that used to be aired many years ago on DD have almost vanished – other than BigB helping a few every couple of years.
A quiz would be fun for cricket enthusiasts who spend hours discussing and rattling off scores, records, and dates from the top of their head without any effort.
But I think #EkNayiLeague includes more than just cricketers. What else could this be?
Fantasy Cricket with Celebrities?
I missed out on this Cricked World Cup’s fantasy game. But I am planning to enter one soon. Well, not the World Cup, the IPL one.
It would be fun to watch celebrities select their own teams and battle it out on TV. But again, that would be cricket specific. The #EkNayiLeague campaigns talk about different sports personalities so I believe whatever it is will involve players from different games.
Fun Game Show?
#EkNayiLeague – a different kind of league. A league of players from across the world battling it out on the TV screen in a reality show. Wouldn’t it be fun watching these celebrities engage in fun, quirky games against each other? I would love to see a public voting angle to choose the winner like in Indian Idol franchise.

A Sports Celebrity Talk Show
I am so so sure that #EkNayiLeague is going to be a Talk Show. We have very few of those on Indian TV for some reason. Maybe they are not just as popular as the Saas-Bahu dramas.
I hope the new sports talk show includes successful sports personalities from different games such as Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, and Chess Grandmasters other that the big V.
