Big Agenda Summary
Donald Trump has won the election on more or less the same arguments and promises that had brought the last President to the White House: Jobs, Immigration, Health Care, Education, Security. The only difference is the solution to these problems that President Trump offers is diametrically opposite to what the Democrats thought.
His promises and raw charm appealed to many who felt wronged and stifled by the liberal regime. He has successfully kept the rhetoric in place even after getting elected and sent a strong message with his choice of candidates fro key appointments. And he has made his intentions clear. What remains to be seen is can the conservative president actually do what he has promised. Davis Horowitz says that Donald Trump is perhaps set to become one of the most powerful presidents in the US history. The GOP has unprecedented control with hold on the White House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. And they have a big agenda.
In a hard hitting narrative, David Horowitz begins with how the Democrats successfully made ‘being progressive’ more important than ‘being best’ for America. How being politically correct became more important than freedom to express one’s views. He makes a battle-cry for all to rally around the new president and begin for many more battles to make America great again.
The first part of the book focuses on how the last eight years of Democrats’ rule has weakened America’s position in global politics and reduced its army to lowest levels since WWII. He goes on about how America’s urban centers have become sanctuaries for criminals and breeding grounds for diseases once thought eradicated. He partly blames the GOP’s internal rift in making their enemy strong. He declares that the war is not with the figureheads of the Democratic party but with the progressive ideology that many prescribe to. He goes on to show how Democrats took to name-calling and then turned on Trump when he returned the favor.
The second part of the book focuses on the policies of the earlier government and how it attacks America’s core values. The author takes to four major policy issues: Health Care, Climate Change, Immigration, and Security, dedicating a chapter for each. These chapters give evidence and counter arguments of how what people have been told is not true and not good for America.
Part three of the book is the road map for Trump government and the agenda that they must focus on. Horowitz’s call is to make changes at the roots and fix the Leftist agenda taught in schools. He points fingers to upswing in unionizing and corruption. David Horowitz ends with a plan for first 100 days of Trump to realign the country’s compass.
