Book review
In this book, Gary shares the secrets that he learned the hard way as he took to the Internet revolution and took his three million dollar business to forty five million by building an eCommerce website for his business.
Find your passion – that’s lesson no.1. Find the one thing you are mad over above all else and put it everything you have. If you look for the “money” niche, you’ll burn out and give up before you succeed. Or you’ll succeed and hate what you’re doing. What he means is that don’t get into something because it meets your monetary objectives at that time. Succeed or fail, you will soon be bored.
The business world is practical if not all the other negative adjectives often used by people who warn about the murky waters. As the books cover page says, be willing to hustle and do what is needed. Gary Vaynerchuk credits his willingness to do whatever it took to get ahead – including hosting his show five days a week, without fail, for over a year. Don’t give up if things don’t work out the first time. Do it over and over and over again until people start to notice.
Not everyone warms to Vaynerchuk’s in-your-face style, but there are those who do adore him. He recommends not even trying to please everyone, and instead doing what you do best.
Doesn’t matter what business you are in on the Internet. Build the audience and the money will find you. Vaynerchuk swears that he didn’t try to monetize his rabid and ever-growing audience. Instead, the offers came to him. He thinks anyone can do the same.
In summary, “Crush It!” recommends finding a niche you love, working hard, being transparent, and persevere until your audience grows to the point where they just can’t get enough of you. This book is a perfect read if you’re looking for inspiration to begin – or continue – your journey.
