Kindle Unlimited is fabulous. So many books, so many magazines and so many people talking about unlimited access to books. But the cynic in you still wants to know and constantly asks – is Kindle Unlimited Worth it? Like everything else in life, it depends on what you want and your reading habits.
Who is it Worth for?
At ten dollars a month, you can call it cheap or you can call it expensive. Just depends on the amount of time you spend reading. What you need to ask yourself and find out is how many books do you usually read in a month.
If you are addicted to books and one of those people who gobble up a book in couple of days, then I will say go for it. Because if you read at that speed, it is ok to assume that you don’t mind reading indie authors. KU subscription will give you enough words to keep you busy through the month.
Who is it not Worth for?
On the other hand, if you like to read but end up reading only a couple of books in a month, the unlimited access to books may not be the thing for you. There is, of course, an additional advantage of access to magazines. It is also likely, that with little time to read, you prefer to read Bestsellers and celebrity authors only. Most of these popular books will be priced around $5 or you can get them at this price when they are on a discount.
Kindle Unlimited does not always have these popular authors in their collection. You might find some every now and then, but they are not a regular feature. In short if you do not read more than a couple of books a month and in general avoid indie, self-published authors, Kindle Unlimited many not be worth it for you.
But as I said, there are additional benefits like access to magazines and audio books that can work for KU. Having said that, it is best if you try it for yourself. You can start a 30 day trial for Kindle Unlimited, if you do sign up and share is Kindle Unlimited worth it. Just make sure that you cancel Kindle Unlimited Subscription before the month is over.
