Asus as a brand isn’t synonymous with quality or inspire a lot of brand loyalty in people. Have I used an Asus product? Yes. I have. I bought this media player a couple of years ago that converts my TV into a smart TV and helps me watch videos I want on the big screen. If I go by the performance of this device, I would recommend Asus products without any doubts.
It is that time again when my computer is old enough to begin thinking of a new device. And this always starts with whether to buy a device that facilitates mobility or get a device that I can use comfortably on a desk. But it is never this or that, ever. A person who is hardly ‘on the move’ type doesn’t require all the small, lightweight, long battery life features. Anyway, I narrowed down to two options from Asus as my experience with their other product was satisfactory and it fit my budget requirements. I narrowed down the choices to the ASUS EeeBook X205TA and Asus All In One PC ET2040. I just had to narrow down to the one I should get, not want.
So I began a methodical analysis of my work habits. How many times do I have to work on the move? Very rarely, I am mostly at my desk, writing. Comfortable posture and a good sized screen are very important to sit at one place for long hours and finish the task on time. I rarely travel, and my smart phone is enough to cover all my communication tasks during this time.
ASUS EeeBook X205TA is of course lightweight, the display at 11.6 inch is not bad either. The under 1 kg weight means that I don’t have to feel like I am working out every time I get it out of the bag. Well, I am at a desk job right now, but there is a good chance that I will be involved in things that will require me to write stuff on the fly. A notebook will surely be a good choice at that time.
Working from different devices, when the genius strikes, has become a habit. The 1 TB cloud with Microsoft Office subscription for year looks enticing too. And of course the price tag of Rs. 15,000 for all this is really attractive.
The real question do I base my decision based on an uncertain future or go for more comfort? Asus All In One PC ET2040 with the 19 inch screen means that I don’t have to squint at the screen or scroll endlessly to read. Moreover, editing images and videos is a crucial part of the job. The Intel HD graphics processor and surround sound also make it a complete multimedia machine. Well, one more thing. The sleek design is space saving and kind of blends right into the contemporary design of other appliances and furniture. And if I do decide to stretch it a bit, it is not that heavy to carry on a long trip.
You know what? I like the mobility of the eBook. But that doesn’t stop me from carrying a smart phone, which I can use for all the communication and a quick writing task. I think I prefer to be comfortable when working long hours at the desk and will have to choose the Asus All In One PC ET2040 over ASUS EeeBook X205TA. But that’s just me. You should evaluate how you use your devices to select the best one here.
